Completed the tunic top and made a pair of leggings to go with it.
The Tunic
In designing the top for my daughter I had a few things in mind: Summer, breezy, but professional, a neutral color made interesting with crisp, tailored elements such as the epaulets, chest pockets, and side vents. The fabric is 55% linen, 45% rayon, so breathable, with a good hand, and not prone to wrinkling(due to the rayon)
Leggings
I wanted the tunic to stand out, so black sets it off nicely. The fabric is a medium hand, feels like a stretch silk, composition is a modal blend, and was a joy to sew with. The fit is snug but not tight, and a very slight flare at the bottom for a dressier look. Ankle length, or just slightly above.

For the most part we just don't ponder the origin of commonplace expressions because they are... common. The first thing I discovered when beginning to read this little gem of a book, was not only hadn't I considered where many common sayings come from, but my preconceived idea of their origin was actually wrong! Kinda embarrassing, but guessing I may not be alone in this. I thought it would be of value then to share some tidbits from this book.
