Tonight's progress was slower than last, but I'm nearly done and very happy with the sewing quality.
1. Stitched gathering line along bottom of each sleeve, to fit within each cuff.
2. Stitched gathering line around cap of sleeve for ease of fit.
3. Sewed edge hem of each sleeve bottom vent, then attached sleeve into cuff.
4. Edge stitched around all of cuff
5. Pinned sleeve onto shirt armscye, gathering to fit, and stitched.
6. Created buttonholes along one front edge and each cuff.
7. Sewed sides of shirt and arms.
What's left?
Cut buttonholes and sew on buttons, and hem shirt bottom
I did add a little padding on the mannequin to beef up her hips. 🙂

For the most part we just don't ponder the origin of commonplace expressions because they are... common. The first thing I discovered when beginning to read this little gem of a book, was not only hadn't I considered where many common sayings come from, but my preconceived idea of their origin was actually wrong! Kinda embarrassing, but guessing I may not be alone in this. I thought it would be of value then to share some tidbits from this book.
