Remember the appetizer mini bread loaves, for making cocktail sandwiches? They would usually be rye or pumpernickel, marbled, etc. I haven't seen them in years (though I'm sure they still make them). I'm having a big party soon, and I want to make hors d'oeuvre sandwiches. I figured why not try to make my own, using some mini loaf pans.

For the most part we just don't ponder the origin of commonplace expressions because they are... common. The first thing I discovered when beginning to read this little gem of a book, was not only hadn't I considered where many common sayings come from, but my preconceived idea of their origin was actually wrong!
