The tree is a US native. The flowers are edible, and they are out now! The flower consists of white petals with a crunchy ball at the base, which kinda tastes like a pea. I infused a bunch in sugared vinegar, and tomorrow I will pick more and experiment in different ways to use this abundant edible.
