My daughter and I used to put together a lot of puzzles. Some we'd take apart after we were done and put back into the box, others we would glue onto a thin plywood and hang up, sometimes even tacking a moulding frame around the perimeter.
Our favorites were idyllic scenes from yesteryear, and also the ones that were scenes built from objects.
The first photo is one I have hanging in my sewing studio, the second photo is one of the miniature scene setups, The General Store. We did and undid that last one a few times because it was so fun.

For the most part we just don't ponder the origin of commonplace expressions because they are... common. The first thing I discovered when beginning to read this little gem of a book, was not only hadn't I considered where many common sayings come from, but my preconceived idea of their origin was actually wrong! Kinda embarrassing, but guessing I may not be alone in this. I thought it would be of value then to share some tidbits from this book.
