Onions and brassicas, and bell/hot peppers
are the earliest seeds to get started with - long growing season, longer than zone 5's outside growing season naturally is.
Last year I planted scapes and onion bulbs. They are perennials so should come back, but I wanted to try some more varieties so got some seeds.
