Cold-process, or hard soap uses sodium hydroxide as lye, liquid soap uses potassium hydroxide as lye, plus quite a bit more water(you are essentially making a paste, then slowly diluting it with water).
I've started with the oils melting, then will do the lye saponification tomorrow night, plus essential oils, to ultimately make shampoo.
