Bolognese sauce is a slow-cooked, hearty sauce perfect for topping on your pasta. Similar to meat sauce, though with the addition of chopped veggies, and usually milk or cream. If you havent got either, but have some coconut milk(I keep it stocked in my pantry) you could sub for that.
Using a large pot, I sauteed a bunch of veggies: onions, celery, carrots, eggplant, onions, mushrooms and garlic, in oil. Then I added a pound each of ground pork and beef, breaking it up as it slowly cooked. Adding Italian herbs, salt and pepper, and some cut up fresh tomatoes. Next goes in a bit of wine and milk, and the whole mixture gets simmered for four hours.
