Making good progress on my sweater back piece. I want the sweater to be fitted so have started decreasing stitches as I approach the waistline. I am reducing the sides as well as creating darts. I'll continue the decreases until I come to the smallest part of my waist, then start increasing again, though only at the darts. The sides will continue straight up, I believe.
While at the hardware store on Thursday, getting painting supplies, I noticed this amusing Christmas stocking. It's funny that only this year did someone at Carhartt marketing come up with the idea, as they've been a big company for so long. I passed on the stocking but did find some good-looking gloves that I hope prove to be as warm as they promise.

For the most part we just don't ponder the origin of commonplace expressions because they are... common. The first thing I discovered when beginning to read this little gem of a book, was not only hadn't I considered where many common sayings come from, but my preconceived idea of their origin was actually wrong! Kinda embarrassing, but guessing I may not be alone in this. I thought it would be of value then to share some tidbits from this book.
