We are well into Autumn so I owe my daughter some additions to her wardrobe. I started on this skirt before I created some pieces for Spring/Summer, but put it aside as it wasn't seasonal.
The fabric is a wool/silk blend with a conservative houndtooth weave, made fun with some "suede fringe" embedded into the two front seams. The rust color is a stretch knit, which I have about a yard of, so can make a turtleneck to go with the skirt.
Need to install the zipper, waistband facing, then create a lining, sew that in, and stitch the hems.

For the most part we just don't ponder the origin of commonplace expressions because they are... common. The first thing I discovered when beginning to read this little gem of a book, was not only hadn't I considered where many common sayings come from, but my preconceived idea of their origin was actually wrong!
