Today was an easy day, a Monday, one of my free days. It was a tad bit nippy out, first day like that, so I knew one of the items on my to-do list was to start picking the rose hips. They are red berries that grow behind the white flowers of the multiflora rose. They are big bushes, and quite thorny, as I discovered as I started clipping the bushes. Very ouchy. Tomorrow I will dress more appropriately.
I worked on my Halloween costume for a few hours, and took a little video of my progress.

For the most part we just don't ponder the origin of commonplace expressions because they are... common. The first thing I discovered when beginning to read this little gem of a book, was not only hadn't I considered where many common sayings come from, but my preconceived idea of their origin was actually wrong! Kinda embarrassing, but guessing I may not be alone in this. I thought it would be of value then to share some tidbits from this book.
