Today I did an errand to purchase fabric and notions for my Halloween costume. I first had to decide what kind of black fabric, thinking about drape and contours. I finally settled on a wool/rayon felt blend for the jacket, and a linen/rayon blend for the jodhpurs(pants).
I next picked out buttons, of which I needed quite a few, 15, for the jacket and pants. Next I poked around for different notions, found a smoky steel chain for the jacket, and some leather pieces.
I next headed to Goodwill, which was just in the next shopping center, but on my way bumped into a mini car parade, for Freedom! (I posted it earlier on other pages) I scored big at Goodwill, finding a steampunkish officer hat( what luck!!), and high black boots.
Created the pattern for the jacket and got the main pieces cut out, still need to do the linings, pockets, etc.

There are a lot of expressions that we hear now and then; most we think we know the origin of, some we don't. For the most part we just don't ponder the origin of commonplace expressions because they are... common. The first thing I discovered when beginning to read this little gem of a book, was not only hadn't I considered where many common sayings come from, but my preconceived idea of their origin was actually wrong! Kinda embarrassing, but guessing I may not be alone in this. I thought it would be of value then to share some tidbits from this book. Audio format is nice, as you can multitask while listening to this. This is my first attempt at recording reading a book, so any constructive criticism is welcome!
